Royal Caribbean's Liberty of the Seas

In 2007, Royal Caribbean International launched the 3,600-passenger Liberty of the Seas, sister ship to the cruise line’s popular Freedom of the Seas -- the two ships then shared the title of "World's Largest Cruise Ship." (The title of "world's largest" shifted to Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas in late 2009.)

Like its sister ship, Liberty of the Seas has spectacular amenities that appeal to guests who enjoy a touch of adventure. For example, Liberty of the Seas passengers can surf on board using the ship’s FlowRider® simulator; relax in cantilevered whirlpools suspended far above the ocean; and test their prowess on one of Royal Caribbean’s signature climbing walls. The excitement continues with Liberty of the Seas’ H2O Zone water park, ice-skating rink and boxing ring.

With so many things to do, the ship appeals to passengers of all ages and tastes. Liberty of the Seas passengers can enjoy musical productions in the ship’s five-story Arcadia Theater; peruse fine art in the onboard art gallery; and check out the bars and shops that line the Centrum and the Royal Promenade.

Guests who enjoy elegant dining will appreciate the three-tiered dining rooms. The ship also has specialty restaurants like Portofino, which features Italian cuisine; Chops Grille, an upscale steak house; and Johnny Rockets, a ‘50s-style diner. Guests who want a quick snack or to linger over refreshments can choose from an English pub, a wine bar, ice cream stands, a juice bar and a pizzeria.

Lest passengers gain an unwanted pound, the ship’s pools, fitness center, spa, sports court, miniature golf course and jogging track provide plenty of opportunities to stay active. The Adventure Ocean play area is specially designed for energetic kids, while teens can dance the night away at Fuel, a teens-only club.

Nighttime entertainment for adults includes live music and dancing at the Pharaoh’s Palace, fun and games at Casino Royale, and dancing to Latin rhythms at Boleros.
